The exploitation of Pau Brasil during the first centuries of colonization preceded its inclusion in the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) list of threatened species and severely restricted its availability in the global trade market. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Floresta Viva Institute and the Pernambuco International Conservation Initiative (IPCI) began a partnership in 2013 to promote pau brasil as a silvicultural species in Southern Bahia.
